You may notice when putting your luggage on conveyor belts that TSA personnel are not physically handling your bags? This is due to the recent Covid-19 virus, so please stay with your luggage until it is completely on the black moving conveyor belt.
Also, please try and maintain good hygiene and distancing, especially if you notice individuals that appear sick with coughing or other known symptoms.
If you have a cough, please cover your mouth as much as possible-all the time-but especially when going through security as Officers have gotten sick from passengers that did not cover their mouth, but instead coughed in the Officers face.
Other procedures have been adapted to try and maximize everyone's safety, so please expect changes and possible delays.
How much time should I give myself to get through the entire Airport Process?
It's advisable to get to the airport 2 hours before your flight.
What is the difference between Pre-check lane and the Standard Lane?
Pre-Check is an expedited lane. Passengers don't have to remove shoes or any items out of their bags.
What is the 311 rule?
It refers too a passenger taking 1 qt. size zip lock bag with their liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, and lotions.
For efficiency make sure it's easily accessible.
Do I have to go through the Body Scanner?
No. You can opt out but it means you will have to be pat down and may have to wait
for an available Officer.
What if I have knee or hip replacements and/or internal Medical Device?
It's advisable to let an officer know you will need the Body Scanner, but do so prior to entering a Metal Detector.
ALSO: Airports are configured different and some PRECHECK Lanes may not have a Body Scanner.
Let TICKET/DOCUMENT checker know you need the body scanner BUT you do not have to give an explanation.
What if I have medical supplies that are liquids or machines?
Have them easily accessible so you can take them out quickly and place them in a tray to receive additional screening.
What if I lost my I.D. and only have the temporary one?
You will require some additional screening so you will want to give yourself some extra time. As a back up you could get yourself a passport.
What if I have multiple Laptops and/or Ipad's and have PreCheck™?
It's recommended that you remove the extra's leaving one laptop and possibly one Ipad in the bag (PreCheck™ Lane only).
Why did I get randomly selected while in PreCheck™?
PreCheck™ is an expedited lane, but not a free pass lane and is still subject to random screening and any and all alarms supersede PreCheck™ status and must be resolved, so use this app to reduced your chances of setting off alarms and getting pat downs.
Why did my shoes alarm despite having no visible metal on them?
Some shoes have metal inside the arch for extra support and most high heels have steel in the arch and the heel so you want to avoid those kind of shoes. Those kind of shoes do not bend very easy if you want to test it at the store before you purchase new shoes.
FOOD ITEMS (NEW).
It's recommended you avoid bringing food if you seek to get through efficiently.
Do NOT tell the officer this:
"I've been through X number of airports with X item"
This statement only suggests the last airport didn't do their job or current airport did it better, maybe both?
"I know the rules better then you"
or some variation of this because you don't and can't unless you've worked for TSA. The "Rules" are almost constantly changing and add an additional layer of difficulty for the employees.
